3 Valentine’s Day Ideas for New Parents
Last Updated on November 2, 2024 by Joshua Isibor
Loving your new baby is an easy task, but finding time for romance with your significant other can be tricky when you’re constantly busy caring for the new addition to your family. So, if you’re looking to put some love back into your relationship on Valentine’s Day (or any day), here are three ways to spend Valentine’s Day with your significant other while celebrating with your newborn at the same time.
Do Something Together
Whether you’re celebrating with a newborn, planning a date night out, or just treating yourselves to some quality time together, Valentine’s Day is about celebrating your relationship and making an effort to spend some quality time together. To that end, remember this major rule when making plans; treat yourself. Taking care of two (or more) little ones requires a lot of energy and selflessness, so don’t forget to take care of yourselves too. Whether it’s booking a couple’s massage at your favorite spa or choosing one of your favorite five-star restaurants as your spot for dinner, don’t be afraid to treat yourselves on Valentine’s Day.
If you can afford it, plan a quick get-away for the weekend, if you feel comfortable taking your little one with you. With the best compact baby carrier for traveling, you won’t have to worry about lugging strollers through the airport since baby will be able to stay close and safely right next to you.
Splurge on Date Night
After having a baby, it can be hard to get time to yourself and your significant other. But after an entire year of sleepless nights and dirty diapers, you’ve both earned it. Make sure you reserve at least one night out on Valentine’s day to reconnect and make some romantic memories. Be honest with your partner and suggest leaving your little bundle of joy with a friend or trusted family member if they’re opposed to leaving them overnight. You don’t want things to get awkward on date night because mommy duties become more important than romance.
Romantic Dinner at Home
If you’re a new parent, then you know how tough it can be to even find time to sit down together at mealtime. While restaurant food is often delicious, a romantic dinner out might be too much for you and your partner if your baby (or toddler) is refusing to sleep. If you’re at home, on the other hand, cooking a nice meal can be an easy way to spend some one-on-one time with your significant other and still make sure that little one gets her/his share of love and attention. If there are more kids in your household than just babies or toddlers, it might make sense to choose an activity where everyone can have fun together as well—like building snowmen outside or watching a movie together. Celebrating Valentine’s Day at home means you can save to buy a little surprise gift. Small jewelry from Katie Waltman makes great gifts for moms especially since it’s the type of jewelry they can wear every day.
Spending time with your significant other on Valentine’s Day is a great way to celebrate. Whether you want to go out and spend a night at a nice restaurant or stay in and snuggle on the couch with your little one together, we hope these suggestions help to make your Valentine’s Day extra special.
