Is It Possible To Put Fragrance In Your HVAC System?

Last Updated on October 12, 2023 by Joshua Isibor

When it comes to home or business scenting, you have multiple options, from scented candles to scent diffusers. Unfortunately, some of these fragrances don’t go far enough. If you want to invest in scent options for large spaces, choose the best scenting solution, such as Lelior HVAC scent diffusers.

You can put fragrance in your HVAC system, but an HVAC fragrance diffuser is the best option. You can also add essential oil to the air filter. However, you should consult an expert before adding fragrance to air conditioning because some parts may be sensitive to the oils and chemicals.

HVAC scenting is common in business premises with large spaces, malls, hotels, and restaurants. You can also use it as a home scenting solution. However, you must be careful when choosing the scent since the air circulates over a large area.

Some scents may seem ideal, because they are your favorite scented candle or essential oils. However, some fragrances may be overwhelming when used in the HVAC system.

How To Put Fragrance In The AC

There are multiple ways you can put fragrance in air conditioning. The most common method is connecting the HVAC fragrance diffuser to the HVAC system. It is best to ask an expert to fix it to ensure it is set correctly.

Most HVAC scent systems have timers to control the diffusion rate. This helps to ensure the scent is consistent and evenly dispersed.

Other fragrance for HVAC solutions include;

  • Essential oils on HVAC air filter. This is a great DIY solution for HVAC scenting. Get your favorite essential oil, and add a few drops on the air filter. As the air flows, the scent will circulate throughout your space. Ensure you get natural essential oils because synthetic alternatives may contain chemicals that will damage the air filter.
  • A sachet of dried, crushed herbs. You can also prepare a sachet of dried herbs, like sandalwood, rose blossoms, lavender blossoms, and cloves. Strategically place the sachet on the vents and let the AC distribute the fragrance.
  • DIY air freshener spray. Prepare a liquid spray, such as a lemon extract plus water solution. Spray the liquid in the vents as a home-scenting solution. When the AC is on, the fragrance will disperse. The downside is this fragrance may not last as long as the essential oils and other alternatives.

Of these options, the HVAC fragrance diffuser offers the best scenting solution. It is long-lasting, offers value for money, and you can choose unique signature scents. The risks of damage to the HVAC system are also limited.

Whatever option you choose, you need to be sure that you need to be aware of the risks and benefits. If you opt to go the essential oils way, you need to start with few drops first because the scent will initially be quite strong. Alternatively, go for soft fragrances, like lavender, lemon, and rosemary.

The effectiveness of the aroma often depends on the fragrance you choose. The positioning also matters. It is easy to assume the fragrance isn’t strong enough, yet the problem is with the placement. You should ask a technician if you don’t know the best place to place fragrance in air conditioning.
