What To Expect After Your First Botox Treatment
Last Updated on November 5, 2024 by Joshua Isibor
Perhaps you’re trying to decide whether or not Botox is the right choice for you. The results can be exceptional, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have questions, and it doesn’t mean you won’t be unsure as to exactly what it all involves. With that in mind, here are some useful pieces of information about what to expect after your first Botox treatment to help you make that all-important decision; the more you know, the easier the choice will be.
Results Take Time
Although when the results do show themselves they tend to be impressive, the truth is that they take time to come through. So don’t worry after having your first Dermani Botox injection that nothing has changed; it will. You simply need to be patient.
After your first Botox injection, it can take anything from two to eight days for something to change visibly in your face. However, you can rest assured that something will change, and after two weeks, you’ll look youthful and fresh.
It Won’t Hurt
One of the questions that most people are likely to have about Botox is whether it will hurt or not. The answer is that it won’t; at least that’s the case for most people. This is because the needles used for Botox are very small, so they don’t make much of an impact on the skin. When you go to a great clinic that has plenty of experience in offering Botox, there is even less chance of pain since the practitioners will know exactly what they are doing and will know exactly how to reduce the chances of the injection hurting.
There May Be Some Swelling
The fact is that, no matter what the results might be or how little the process hurts, you are having an injection into your skin, and this can mean that there is some swelling that takes place afterward. This is entirely normal, as is a little bruising and redness. In most cases, the redness and swelling will be gone within 30 minutes, and if you have bruising this will heal within a couple of days.
If you want to avoid bruising as much as possible, don’t take ibuprofen or any other medication that acts as an anti-inflammatory, as this will make the chances of bruising much larger.
Don’t Touch Your Face
Once you have had your first Botox treatment, it’s important not to touch your face. The issue is that the Botox protein has been injected into exactly the right spot for it to get to work in the way you want it to. Any touching of the face can mean that the protein moves elsewhere or even that it is dispersed and therefore is not as potent.
You should only have to wait around four hours before you can touch your face again, although it’s best to avoid it altogether for the first day or so just to be safe.
Your Muscle Movement Will Be Restricted
Although restricted muscle movement is what Botox is all about because it is different to a filler, many people don’t entirely realize this is the case, and they worry that they can’t move their faces in the same way as they once did. However, getting all the information in advance means that this shouldn’t be an issue, and once you get used to it, you’ll be fine about it.
